Historic Red Dock

Thanks to additional research we have been able to find out even more about Historic Red Dock, the location of the S.S. Keewatin. Through Al Hart, Bill Kemperman, the Saugatuck/Douglas Historical Society, and e-Bay, we have been able to acquire many new photos and postcards/advertisements relating to the Crawford Transportation Company and the Steamships Arundell and Tennessee.

We’ve been able to piece together a timeline of the various owners of the property from M.B. Spencer in 1873 to Diane and R.J. Peterson in the present.

There is an extensive display set up aboard the Keewatin, as well as in a building on the boardwalk down to the Red Dock Café. This display includes several bottles which surfaced during the recent excavation in the construction of the new boat launch on Union Street.
